GoodEvening from Allahabad, officially known as Prayagraj, and Illahabad and Prayag, is a major city in UttarPradesh. The city is the judicial capital of Uttar Pradesh with Allahabad High Court being the highest judicial body in the state. Allahabad lies close to Triveni Sangam, of the Ganges, Yamuna and Sarasvati rivers that plays a central role in ancient Hindu scriptures. The historic and holy city finds its earliest reference as one of the world’s oldest known cities in Hindumythology.

Known as the holycity of Prayaga in the ancient Vedas, Allahabad was also known as Kosambi in the late Vedic period, named by the Kuru rulers of Hastinapur, who developed it as their capital. The city was capital during Maurya Empire until the Gupta Empire as well as political, cultural and administrative centre of Doab region. Allahabad was provincial capital in of the Mughal Empire also under the reign of Jahangir. The actual session of the IndianNationalCongress in 1888 was held in the city and by the turn of 20th century, Allahabad was a hub of revolutionary activities.

NityanandChatterji became a household name when he hurled a bomb at a European club In Alfred Park in 1931, ChandrashekharAzad died when he was surrounded by British police now known as Chandrashekhar Azad. During the Kumbhmela whether ardh kumbh or purna kumbh, a new temporary city is created on the banks of ganges.
