The city of Itanagar is home of Arunachal University, and other major educational institutions. The markets too are not very expensive and sell a variety of products. The city and its outskirts offer plenty of outdoor activities such as rafting, trekking and angling. Trekking is a popular activity here, with Itanagar- Pashighat being a famous trail.
