Bankura is a city and a municipality in the state of #WestBengal, India. It is the headquarters of the Bankura district. Located at about 132 km from Kolkata. It is famous for its terracotta temples and Baluchari sarees. The town has a glorious past that is reflected in its rich architecture, music, painting, art and handicrafts such as pottery and weaving..Bankura district is located in the north western part of the state of West Bengal. It is a part of Bardhaman Division of the State and is included in the area known as “Rarh” in Bengal.

On the Western Zone, Susunia Hill is a tourist spot 50 km from Bisnupur and 21 km from Bankura town. It is known for a natural spring and a historical stone engraving. Biharinath Hill is the tallest hill in Bankura district.

It is in the northwestern edge of the district. It is 57 km from Bankura Town. It was an ancient centre of Jainism, and known for its natural environment.[19] Biharinath has hills, dense forest, water bodies, river Damodar, and a temple of Lord Shiva. In the South Zone, Mukutmanipur is a tourist spot 55 km from Bankura. It is the second biggest earthen dam of India. Jhilimili has a dense natural forest 70 km from Bankura Town.

In the northern zone the Durgapur Barrage, Gangdua Dam and Koro Pahar (Amar Kanan) are worth visiting. Also worth visiting is Panchmura is a gram panchayat under Taldangra intermediate panchayat, in Khatra subdivision of Bankura district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is 21 km (13 mi) from Bishnupur and is famous for the terracotta Bankura horse, a folk artefact and now the national symbol for Indian handicrafts.

Bankura is also famous for Dhokra art is essentially stunning metal figurines fashioned from bronze and copper based alloys using a ‘lost wax casting’ known as ‘cire perdue.
