Dehradun is the capital of Uttarakhand, near foothills of Himalaya. The winter capital and most populous city in state Part of the Garhwal region, it lies along National Highway 7. The city stands at an elevation of approximately 447 metres above sea level. Dehradun is famous for 6-sided Ghanta Ghar clocktower .The city is also famous for Paltan Bazaar, a busy shopping estate as well as gurudwara Nanaksar topped with ornate white and golden domes as well as Mindrolling Monastery, a Tibetan Buddhist center with shrine rooms in its Great Stupa.
