Lachen is a town in North 3Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is located at an elevation of 2,750 metres. The name Lachen means “big pass”. The town a touristdestination forms the base to the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. Everybody including foreigners and Indians require a separate permit known as Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit such places. … For example, a permit for Tsomgo lake can not be used to visit Lachung/Yumthang.
