Raipur is the capital city of Chhattisgarh, India. Raipur is known for its vibrant steel plants, over 200 steel mills, and a slew of coal and aluminium industries. The city is part of the Raipur-Bhilai-Durg Tri City Metro area. founded in the 14th century by Rai Brahma Deo of the Ratanpur dynasty. It served as headquarters of the former Chhattisgarh princely states division and was constituted a municipality in 1867. The city’s 15th-century fort contains numerous Hindu temples. The most famous is the Bhawani Ka Mandir, The city has several lakes, of which Burha Lake (Burha Talab) is the largest and most notable; it has an island in its centre. Near the lake is the elaborate Dudhadari Temple dedicated to the Hindu god Rama.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama, decorating scenes from the epic poem “Ramayana. Is worth visiting.” Nearby, a statue of the Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda towers over Vivekananda Sarovar lake. Southeast, Purkhouti Muktangan is an open-air museum featuring landscaped grounds, statues and tribal artifacts. Besides the traditional Chhattisgarhi dishes, there’s a lot of variety when it comes to street food of Raipur.
