Dubbed “the most romantic spot on the continent of India” Udaipur is a major tourist destination and is known for its history, culture, scenic locations and the Rajput-era palaces. It is popularly known as the “City of Lakes” because of its sophisticated artificial lake system with 5 major lakes being Fateh Sagar Lake, Lake Pichola, Swaroop Sagar Lake, Rangsagar and Doodh Talai Lake. All these lakes have been included under the restoration project of the National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) of Government of India.
Udaipur, formerly the capital of the Mewar Kingdom, is a city in the state of Rajasthan. It is surrounded by the Aravali Range, which separates it from the Thar Desert. Founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559, Udaipur, is set around a series of artificial interconnected lakes and is known for its lavish royal residences. City Palace, overlooking Lake Pichola, is a monumental complex of 11 palaces, courtyards and gardens, is famed for its intricate peacock mosaics. Perfect for a weeklong visit there are lots of things to see in Udaipur.
After early morning arrival and breakfast tourist can start tour of the city with visit to City Palace Museum, Lake Pichola, FatehSagar Lake, Jagdish temple, Rajsamand Lake and Pratap Memorial that can take up an entire day. After that tourist can retire for the day but not before trying out the local Rajasthani cuisine from a restaurant located near the accommodation. On 2nd day tourist can visit the Jharmar Kotra Stromatolite Fossil Park at Jharmar Kotra south-east of Udaipur. On 3rd day tourist can visit City Palace, Udaipur built in 1559 on the east bank of Lake Pichola, also the tourist must try a boat ride on the lake.
The palace now houses a museum with many antique articles, paintings, decorative furniture and utensils from the royal era and will taker up an entire day. On 4th day tourist can visit Lake Palace over an island in Lake Pichola. Built of white marble, the palace is now a luxury 5 Star hotel, followed by visit to Jag Mandi palace, it was completed by 1652 the tourist can then head out to visit Kesariyaji Temple I evening and then retire for the day after a visit to local market. On 5th day tourist can visit Sajjan Garh Palace located on Bansdara peak of the Aravalli hill range and then Jagdish Temple, built by Maharana Jagat Singh I in the evening.
Then if time permits tourist can visit Sahelion ki Baria a garden with its fountains and kiosks, a lotus pool and marble elephants. Von 6tth day a visit to Moti Magri that has a memorial of the Rajput hero MaharanaPratap is must, this is followed by visit to Neemach Mata Temple and then the KarniMata in evening. There is a rope-way which takes visitors to a hill, hIghlight of the visit is the view of Pichola Lake, Jag Mandir and Doodh Talai. On the 7th day visit to Pratap Gaurav Kendra Rashtriya Tirtha and Gulab Bagh and Zoo. Those willing to extend the trip by one day can opt for visit to Kumbhalgarh and Haldighati.after coming back tourist can the the tur of the city with visit and photos at ‘i Love Udaipur’ spot.. The city is well connected by rail, road and air with all major cities.
